2 Corinthians 2:14

But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.

The first couple weeks of September Lee and I spent on a North Atlantic cruise, celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.  It was our first cruise together and very memorable.  We chose a very small ship (362 passengers) and I assumed part of our time would be spent meeting other people.  However, much to my surprise we spent a lot of time making new friends, getting to know them and really forging new friendships.  I believe in the short 14 days we were together we have made some new friends for a lifetime!  I am quite sure that several of the new acquaintances were by Divine guidance.  I look forward to a time when we can host our new friends “from across the pond” in our home.

What this cruise meant for my blog is a couple things.  First, I wasn’t as attentive to the blog as I thought I would be.  We had internet access, but it turned out I was too darned busy making friends, eating, laughing, eating, playing cards, eating, hearing some great lecturers, eating … well you get the idea!:)    Secondly, I was wild about taking pictures of the beautiful food served aboard the ship.  I was lucky enough to meet several of the chefs on board and came home with loads of new recipes and some fabulous pictures.  I plan to show off the pictures over the new couple months.  As we dined with new friends they often times offered up their plates (before the first bite) so that I could take a picture!  It became a fun ritual as our meals were served.  Of course, my sweet husband was use to this being the case at home as he often “patiently waits” for just the right picture before diving into dinner.  He didn’t expect the wait aboard ship, but he was quick to join in the fun as his plate was often the focus of my camera too!

Our cruise started in England and via Ireland and Canada we returned to the United States.  Against all odds of 3 hurricanes in 2 weeks, we rocked and rolled across the North Atlantic through parts of Hurricanes Irene, Katia, and Maria.  As our ship sailed into the New York harbor early one foggy morning, it was with a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye that I took in “my country tis of thee.”  There is never a moment quite like the one when I step back onto American soil and feel the great sense of home sweet home.
God Bless America!

I look forward to sharing some picture and tales of my fun adventure!

Blessings,
Catherine

    • Kim, it was a “value added adventure” because we took the hurricanes all in stride. We missed a couple port stops so we ended up 7 straight days at sea! That made for ALOT of time to garner friendships and eat! Which we did! Thanks for your message, I’ll be posting pictures soon. Hope you and yours are all doing well.
