I’ve used this easy cranberry jello salad recipe to round out the menu for many dinners, especially around Thanksgiving!  It was one of my mom’s staples that she made for as long as I can remember.  I believe you will love it just as much as we did!

Thanksgiving Cranberry Jello Salad

What do you need to make this Cranberry Jello Salad recipe?

Not much actually!  A can of cranberry sauce, 2 boxes of raspberry jello gelatin (or this sugar-free option), apples, celery, and walnuts.

The walnuts, celery, and apples give it a great crunchy texture and the raspberry jello creates a perfect taste AND color for the holiday table!

When serving as a salad I add a dollop of mayo on top.  When serving as a dessert (and sometimes I do) I add a dollop of whip cream!  To make the most out of this healthy salad I use sugar-free jello.

A simple Cranberry Jello Salad recipe that my mom used to make for Thanksgiving. The whole family loved it!

Ingredients

  • 1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 2 Raspberry Jello gelatin
  • 2 cup Hot water
  • 1 cup of cold water
  • 2 medium Apples, peeled and finely chopped
  • ½ cup Celery, finely chopped
  • ½ cup Walnuts, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the packages of jello in the hot water.
  2. Add the cold water and the cranberry sauce. Blend well and chill.
  3. Before the mixture sets completely, add apples, celery, and nuts. Mix well.
  4. Pour into an 8"x12" pan or a jello mold.Chill until it sets. Garnish with mayonnaise salad dressing.

Notes

  • Chop apples, walnuts and celery as finely as possible.
  • Any apple works well -- Delicious, Granny Smith, Gala, Fuji - whatever you like!
  • The original recipe calls for Black cherry flavored gelatin, but I prefer Raspberry jello.

  1. Can I have more detail on the size of the Jello. It says 2 Raspberry Jello gelatin. Does that mean two boxes and what size – 3oz. or 6oz.?

  2. I make this every Thanksgiving and Christmas! There are never leftovers and it is the bomb! I’ve never added the celery. Does it alter the flavor much or provide any additional value? I may add this year just for texture. Thank you for sharing!
