Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy V Day BalloonIt is Valentine’s Day and I didn’t buy one single piece of chocolate for my love. I don’t plan on baking anything today in celebration. Before you get the wrong idea, my love is still my love, and I am still his Valentine. However, we just spent 3 weeks traveling, eating out most of the time, and the scales sitting in the corner of the bathroom screamed at me today … NO MORE! 🙂  HowevV Day Lee in the kitchener, my Chief Valentine didn’t see the scales as shown by the delightful dinner he and my step-son Rob, prepared for mother and I.  Rib-eye steaks on-the-grill, roasted sweet potatoes, garden-fresh green beans, and the best garlic bread ever.  When I asked how he made such delicious garlic bread, he grinned and said “it’s a secret!”  Hmmmm, guess I am going to have to work on getting that recipe 🙂

V Day Red Velvet CakeWhile the Chief and his son confessed they didn’t actually make this Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese frosting, they did congratulate each other for knowing this is the dessert of choice for Valentine’s Day!  When looking back through the recipes shared on my blog I realize I have never posted my Aunt Mattie’s Red Velvet Cake recipe, which is my go-to recipe.  I will put it on my to-do list!

I hope you have had a blessed day and above all know the Valentine blessing that comes from our Heavenly Father.

Valentine John 3-16
