Serves: 16 slices
Ingredients
Ingredients for bread
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup water, room temp
  • 1 egg
  • 3 and ¼ cups bread flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons active dry yeast, or quick acting dry yeast
Filling
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 3 to 4 cups mixed Italian blend cheeses: mozzarella, asiago, parmesan, romano
  • 6 oz. sliced pepperoni
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Butter for topping.
Instructions
  1. Place bread ingredients in the bread machine in the order listed.
  2. Use Dough cycle. When cycle is completed, roll out dough on floured surface to form a large rectangle.
  3. Brush 1 beaten egg onto the surface of the dough.
  4. Cover center one-third of the rectangle with cheese and pepperoni in layers. Make sure to go all the way toward the ends, leaving about ½ an inch uncovered. Sprinkle with garlic powder.
  5. Once you have the filling laid, fold each side over the center, and use more egg wash to seal all edges.
  6. Flip bread onto a greased baking sheet or a sheet covered with parchment paper.
  7. Spray canola cooking spray on top of bread and cover loosely with plastic wrap.
  8. Let bread rise 30-40 minutes in a warm location.
  9. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes, or until golden on top.
  10. Rub the top with a stick of butter right after pulling from the oven.
  11. Cool briefly, and slice. Enjoy!
Notes
Bread can be made in a bread machine or by hand. Frozen dough can also be thawed and used in place of the homemade bread dough.
