My World View

I have a little table and chairs sitting in front of a wall of windows in our living room.  Over the last 3 years since moving to this house I have been drawn to spend more and more time at this little table. This is where I complete my Community Bible Study lessons. In the natural light I read my Bible. This is where I often times find myself in prayerful conversation with my Lord.  And this is where I daydream.  It was during a recent daydream I came to realize the lessons I learn from the view I have through these windows. Please join me as we look out my window and see what the Bible tells us about the bigger picture!

Neighbors.  The road my neighbors use to access their home is across the yard and directly in view from my little table.  There isn’t much traffic but as neighbors we watch out for each other and who comes and goes.

Mark 12:31   ^” The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Proverbs 3:29  “Don’t plan harm against your neighbor who lives beside you trustingly.”

Romans 13:10 “Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”

Deer.  The deer roam around the yard. My neighbor feeds them corn, but apparently I grow Hosta just for them!  Just as our body thirsts for water, so our soul thirsts for God.

Psalm 42:1 “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you,
O God.”

The bridge. Jesus, being made perfect in all things, bridges the gap between God and man. Completely divine, yet completely human at the same time.

1Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,”

Flower garden. Roses, Day Lilies, Hosta and one lone Rose of Sharon, this little round garden is a busy place for bugs, bees, wasps, spiders, and the hummingbirds who make it their own each summer!

Matthew 6:28-29 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?”

Squirrels. Busy, busy, busy always hunting, running, storing up for winter.

Proverbs 30:24-28

Luke 12:24  “Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!”

Matthew 6:26-27 “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? ²⁷ Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life^?”

Matthew 10:28-29 “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. ²⁹ Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.”

Seasons. Fall. Winter. Spring. Summer. All from my window.  My world view is changing and I am thankful for the lessons I am learning from my window view.
