Hot Cross Buns for Easter Dinner

hot cross bun 2 dozen

Are you making Hot Cross buns tomorrow?  I plan to make them tomorrow afternoon for Sunday Easter dinner.  These buns are so delicious, fragrant and a beautiful addition to any Easter dinner table.  I posted the recipe last year on March 30, you can get the recipe here.

anditwasbeautiful coverI haven’t been blogging much this month.  Other life demands have kept me from this, one of my favorite past times.  My last blog post was a blog book tour for and it was beautiful.

When the tour ended the publisher sent out a thank you email to all the blog writers who had participated.  I was stunned to see this quote of mine, as part of their email.

“From the beginning, this book is a real page-turner. Oh, it’s not filled with the super-sleuth heroin and a murder mystery to solve. It’s a page-turner because once I started reading Kara’s words about how Grace showed up in her life, I couldn’t get enough. Page after page she described the horrors of cancer and then she wrapped it all up in the love and compassion of friends, the strength she found in her hero, her husband, and finally the mercy and grace and love that she experienced from Jesus.”

If you missed the post you can read it here.  I am grateful to have the opportunity to share some of Kara’s words and thoughts.

He Is Risen! Happy Easter

Cross Alaska
The very best days of my life are the ones that I start out with time reading The Word of God.  When I went to bed last night the TV news was filled with stories of violence, storms, and unrest all over the world.

But first thing this morning I read Zechariah 2:8 which says we are so beloved by God that we are the apple of his eye and anyone who touches us touches the apple of HIS eye!  In verse 9 God promises to shake his hand ( protect, a gesture of militant opposition) against those who oppose his children.  This gives me great comfort to be reminded my God is in control!

2 Timothy 3:16 tells me that the whole Bible is God’s final authority for life and ministry.  The very words are God-breathed.  This also gives me comfort and strength to know that as I read and follow this guide book I will be walking in the very will of God.

I pray for you today, this Easter weekend, and all the days of the future that you too will find solace in reading God’s word, being in fellowship with Him, and living your purpose in this life under the sun.

God Bless You and Happy Easter,
~Catherine

Maundy Thursday

maundy thursdayToday is Maundy Thursday.   It is the Christian holy day, falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Maundy and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles as described in the Canonical gospels.

“And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.”    Matthew 20: 17-19 KJV

Do you have special plans for this Easter weekend?  Do any of those plans  include a little time in the kitchen?  Here are a few of my favorite spring and holiday recipes.  Happy Baking!

Christ Has Risen! Happy Easter

Cross AlaskaMark 16:5-7
And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”

This is the good news of the Bible! – we serve a living Savior!  I pray this day will be about more than food and Easter eggs for you.  About more than dressing up in spring fashions.  I wish you a blessed Resurrection Sunday, a Happy Easter, and most of all a personal relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Blessings,
Catherine
